Corrections policy

We work hard to get the news right, but we can make mistakes. When we find an error, or one is reported to us, we correct it openly and do not hide the correction. This page explains how to request a correction, how we handle your request and how corrections appear on the site.

How to request a correction

If you think a story contains inaccurate or incomplete information, write to info@borahaber.com or choose "Correction request" as the topic in the form on our Contact page. To help us review your request quickly, please include:

  • The address (link) of the story,
  • The statement you believe is wrong,
  • The correct information and, if available, a source or document that supports it,
  • Contact details so we can reach you.

How we handle your request

  • We confirm receipt within 2 business days.
  • We check the information against our sources. We may ask you for more details.
  • If the error is confirmed, the story is usually corrected within 24 hours, and we let you know by email.
  • If we conclude that the story is accurate, we tell you why.

How corrections appear

  • Correction note: Every correction that changes the meaning of a story is noted at the top under the heading "Correction". The note gives the date and what was corrected. Example: "Correction (16 October 2026, 2:20 pm): An earlier version of this story gave the date of the meeting as 15 October. The correct date is 16 October."
  • Updated time: For significant corrections, and when important information is added, the "Updated" time in the byline changes.
  • Minor fixes: Spelling, punctuation and wording changes that do not affect the meaning may be made without a note.
  • Both languages: If a story is published in both Turkish and English, the correction is made in both.
  • Address: Even if the headline is corrected, the story's address stays the same, so links to it keep working.

We prefer correcting a story to deleting it. A story may be taken down if its underlying source has been withdrawn, if it is too inaccurate to correct, or if there is a legal requirement to do so; the story's address then shows a page stating that the content has been removed.

Right of reply and correction

If you believe a story contains false information about you or harms your personal rights, you may exercise your right of reply and correction under the Turkish Press Law (Law No. 5187).

How to apply: Send your signed reply or correction, with the address of the story, to info@borahaber.com.

How it is published: A reply or correction that meets the legal requirements is published unaltered within the period set by law. It appears at the top of the story in a separate box headed "Reply and correction", linked to the story. This box is separate from our editorial correction notes.

When it is not published: Texts that do not meet the legal requirements (for example, texts that contain a criminal offense or are unrelated to the story) are not published, and the applicant is informed. The applicant's statutory right to seek a court remedy is reserved.

Requests to remove content

If you want content removed because it violates your personal rights, send your request to info@borahaber.com. Such requests are handled under Law No. 5651; response times are listed on our Contact page.
