A new arrest warrant has been issued for former AK Party MP Ertan Aydın, who had been released under judicial control in the form of house arrest in the fund investigation. Aydın was taken into custody following the warrant.
How the process unfolded
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is conducting the fund investigation into transactions in the capital markets. Aydın, who was detained, was referred to the courthouse after completing procedures at the police station. Prosecutors sought his arrest after taking his statement as a suspect.
A criminal judgeship of peace assessed the request and ruled for his release under judicial control measures of “not leaving the residence” and a “ban on leaving the country.”
The prosecutor's office objected to this decision. The court reviewing the objection ordered a warrant to be issued for Aydın. Aydın is described as the founder of a research and campaign company.
