National Education Minister Tekin commented on the common exam set for schools on November 10. Tekin said that if November 10 were an official holiday, they would not hold an exam anyway.

Noting that children will attend school, Tekin said no exam is set before 09:30. He gave the reason as the November 10 ceremonies beginning at 08:45.

Tekin said that had the exam been set for the next day, students would not have come to the ceremony in order to prepare, and asked, "Would that have been better?" Saying that by placing the exam on the day students attend school they ensured participation in the ceremony, Tekin said the media blew the exam out of proportion.
