Sevda Dinler, 22, was shot dead at Dağılcak Recreation Area in Düzağaç neighborhood of Adana's Kozan district while picnicking with her family and friends. The suspect was reported to be G.F., 42, whose offer of a relationship Dinler had turned down.

How the incident unfolded

According to allegations, G.F. arrived at the recreation area by car, argued with Dinler and fired at her with a rifle he had brought. Seriously wounded, the young woman was determined to have died by health teams who arrived at the scene. Her body was taken to the morgue for an autopsy.

A plainclothes gendarmerie officer who was in the recreation area caught the suspect as he tried to flee. G.F. was detained and taken to the gendarmerie.

Restraining order

It was alleged that Dinler had filed a complaint against G.F., who reportedly previously lived in the same neighborhood, on the grounds that he was bothering her, and had obtained a restraining order against him. The investigation into the incident continues.
