Vance: Trump's backing of Netanyahu is the most influential in political history; I'm not meddling in Israel's election

US Vice President JD Vance, speaking in an interview with journalist Mark Halperin, commented on President Donald Trump's support for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Vance said: "Başkan, ABD veya uluslararası siyasi tarihin en etkili desteğine sahip." ("The President has the most influential backing in US or international political history.")

Vance stressed that he is focused on the US midterm elections on November 3. Saying he supports American candidates, he stated that this is his focus in the midterms and therefore he is not getting involved in Israel's elections.

Trump had earlier announced his support for Netanyahu ahead of Israel's elections on October 27. US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also reportedly visited Israel and met with Netanyahu.

Earlier statements

Last year Vance backed Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, but Orban's right-wing party lost the country's parliamentary election. In June, Vance sharply criticized some Israeli government figures for opposing Trump's efforts to end the war with Iran. In July, he said some elements of the Israeli government were trying to influence American public opinion in order to derail negotiations.
