YouTube is moving the Subscriptions tab, which has long sat in fourth place in the bottom menu of its iOS and Android apps, to the top of the screen. In its new position the tab will sit next to Home and be marked by a red line beneath it.
New feeds join the top menu
The top menu will not be limited to Home and Subscriptions. Separate feeds such as Live and Music will also appear there. Users with an active subscription will see a Movies and TV feed as well. This way, switching between checking followed channels and discovering new videos can be done from the same spot.
AI-powered custom feeds
The update also adds a feature for those who want to describe in more detail what they want to watch. By tapping the "+" icon above the home page, users will be able to create a feed in their own words. For example, typing "Quick dinner recipes" will be enough; the AI-powered custom feed feature will bring videos together based on that request.
Created feeds can also be saved. Free users can save three custom feeds, while Premium members can save eight.
The update is currently rolling out in the US and in English. It is planned to open to more countries later.
