Cindy Crawford and Family Issue Joint Statement on Presley Gerber: "We Are Devastated"

Model Cindy Crawford, her husband Rande Gerber and their daughter Kaia Gerber have made their first joint statement since the death of their son and brother Presley Gerber, who died at 27.

After a long silence, the family said:

We are devastated by the loss of our beloved son and brother. Having Presley in our lives for 27 years was a great blessing. He was a sweet, beautiful soul; he loved and was loved, now and forever. We are proud of the kindness and vulnerability he brought to the world. We are grateful for the flood of love and support from the many people who know and love our family, and even from strangers who shared our grief. Our sweet son, until we meet again. We love you forever.

Official cause of death not announced

The young model reportedly died only hours after being admitted for treatment at a rehabilitation center in Santa Monica, and assessments point to a drug overdose. The autopsy has been completed, but no official statement on the exact cause of death has been made yet.

Gerber, who previously made headlines for driving under the influence of alcohol, was known to have struggled with addiction. Following in his mother's footsteps as a model, he was cremated a few days after his death. The sudden loss, which came as his career was advancing, deeply saddened his family and fans.
