Burak Özçivit at MIPCOM 2026: "These things don't work without love"

Burak Özçivit, lead actor of atv's series Güneşin Doğduğu Yer, attended MIPCOM 2026 in Cannes, France, as a guest of the channel. At the event, one of the world's leading television content fairs, the actor met industry professionals at the atv stand. The series is being presented to the international market as Land of the Sun.

Taking a short break from a busy filming schedule to come to Cannes, Özçivit said the team has been working intensively in Adana for about three and a half months. Pleased with the atmosphere at the fair, the actor said:

This is my fourth or fifth time here. Everyone is smiling, and the interest is huge. Seeing the stand by the sea certainly makes you happy. Even if it's just for a day, we feel like we're on holiday.

"It doesn't work without an impossible love"

Assessing the worldwide interest in Turkish series, Özçivit said his experience over the years has shown him that love must be at the center of the story. He noted that the projects he chooses generally follow this approach, and that the new series does too.

These things don't work without love. They especially don't work without an impossible love.

Contribution to culture and tourism

Özçivit said series are not merely television productions but also a powerful means of cultural representation. He said the project filmed in Adana introduces the city and its regional dishes to the world, which greatly contributes to tourism. He added that viewers follow the series closely and embrace them.

Give me one example: what other profession, what other line of work lets you enter every home in the world? Only this way do you enter and have an impact.

The character Kenan Kozan

Speaking about his character Kenan Kozan, Özçivit said viewers will find traces of themselves in the story. Noting that universal emotions are unshakable, the actor stressed that the common denominator is love, but that impossibility must be placed into it properly. He sent viewers the message: "You will see the same love in Kenan Kozan."
