The US space agency NASA officially announced that American astronauts will land on the lunar surface in 2028 as part of the Artemis 4 mission. NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman said the agency has accelerated its work and reassessed technical requirements in order to stay on this timeline.
Isaacman: First elements of a permanent human presence will await them
With this approach, we are giving the Artemis 4 mission the highest possible chance to safely and successfully take Americans back to the lunar surface in 2028. When American astronauts take their first steps on the Moon in 2028, they will be greeted by a rover and the first elements of a permanent human presence on the Moon.

Two companies are working on the landing modules
NASA's Artemis Program Director Jeremy Parsons said development of the lunar landing modules is being carried out simultaneously by Elon Musk's SpaceX and Jeff Bezos's Blue Origin.
As the Artemis team, we are focused on the goal of landing directly on the lunar surface within the 2028 timeline. NASA will wait until the latest possible moment before choosing the company that will land the crew on the Moon, but both companies are continuing their work to reach the 2028 landing phase.
