Australian model and swimwear designer Sahara Ray has died at the age of 34. Also known as a former girlfriend of Justin Bieber, Ray reportedly died at a hospital on the night of Sunday, October 18, and the news emerged the next day. The cause of death has not yet been announced.
Ray's family announced that she passed away in hospital beside her loved ones. In their statement, the family said: "She was very loved."
Who was she?
Sahara Ray was known for her own brand, Sahara Ray Swim. She continued her modeling career and had a large following on social media. Her father is Australian surfer Tony Ray. Her name became widely known in 2016 through photos taken while vacationing with Justin Bieber in Hawaii. Her relationship with musician Mod Sun in 2023 also drew attention.
Ray had said she developed Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare condition, after a serious car accident in April 2024. She had said the illness, in which the immune system attacks the nerves, left her unable to walk for a time, and she shared her treatment with followers.
Ray gave birth to her daughter Snow in January 2026 and, in a July post, called her "my baby." Snow was nine months old when she lost her mother. Many celebrities and fans posted messages of condolence.
