The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) has made a formal offer to Sergen Yalçın in its search for a new head coach for the national team. The final decision will be made after the board meeting scheduled for tomorrow. The TFF is expected to officially announce Yalçın after the meeting.
The search after Montella
The federation parted ways with head coach Vincenzo Montella after four consecutive defeats in the Nations League. The Italian coach visited Riva and said farewell to TFF President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu and the board members.
Arda Turan, who was mentioned after Montella's departure, told the federation he wants to continue his role at Shakhtar. Abdullah Avcı's name also came to the fore, but the experienced coach was said to be preparing to start a new programme at a broadcaster. The federation, which prioritises a Turkish coach, most recently approached Yalçın.
Yalçın's Beşiktaş record
Sergen Yalçın, 53, managed Beşiktaş last season and took charge of the black-and-whites in 39 matches. He recorded 20 wins, 10 draws and 9 defeats, averaging 1.79 points per match.
