Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President İbrahim Hacıosmanoğlu spoke at the signing ceremony for Sergen Yalçın, the new head coach of the A National Football Team. At the ceremony held at the Riva Hasan Doğan National Teams Camp and Training Facilities, Hacıosmanoğlu said he trusts Yalçın's manliness and honorable character.

First of all, I trust his manliness and honorable character. His intelligence is something else anyway, a man who can shoot baskets with his feet.

Not on the candidate lists

Hacıosmanoğlu said he looked at the candidate lists prepared in the press during the coach search and Yalçın was on none of them. After parting with Vincenzo Montella on 9 October following the exit from the UEFA Nations League A, the federation had announced on 20 September that a four-year contract would be signed with Yalçın.

Hacıosmanoğlu thanked Montella. He said they could have brought in a foreign coach but had said the Turkish National Team should be coached by a Turk. He said he believes Yalçın will succeed by being both a coach and an older brother figure, and will achieve outstanding success. He said the federation's duty is to provide conditions in which the technical staff can work comfortably.

Yalçın: The most important day of my career

According to Hacıosmanoğlu, Yalçın told him, "This pride is enough for me." Yalçın said today is the most important day of his career. Speaking about criticism, Yalçın said: "There will be criticism, we are used to it. We will do what we know, what we know to be right. We shouldn't speak too early, we will see what happens."
